Kelly McCoy, Program Manager for Africa Community Tours
Having traveled throughout the world, I have become transformed. I believe that travel is a means to build bridges of awareness while inspiring people to grow through exposure and engagement, appreciate from connecting, and reciprocate through compassion. This is what we do at Global Family Travels through our focus on Learn, Serve, and Immerse.
My first visit to Africa was during the 10th anniversary of free elections and the end of Apartheid in South Africa. It was an amazing trip of learning, connection, and adventure! Since then I have visited 6 of the 54 countries that make up this amazing continent. And have been exposed and challenged with new experiences from Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda, to visiting and connecting with the people of Soweto in Johannesburg, to being on safari in the Serengeti, and serving children through an educational project in Tanzania, no two experiences have been alike. And you grow to appreciate even more what makes us alike, as well as our differences. And I always say, that once you go to Africa, it will get under your skin and you will go back!
My best travel memories have all come from meeting and engaging with people of diverse cultures and from all walks of life around the world. And their gift has been to welcome and allow me to experience the places they call home through their eyes. My love for travel, passion for Africa, and experience volunteering abroad have put me on a mission to share and provide people with personal and unique experiences to extraordinary destinations in Africa.
I believe that a travelers we have a responsibility to do more good and less harm. And that begins in our own home. As the Program Manager for Seattle Sustainable Community tours we have an opportunity and responsibility to engage our local community and tourists alike with experiences that connect and help to preserve our cultural heritage and environment. As well as, bring socio - economic benefit to our local community.
